Producing rayon is a water intense manufacturing process. In order to produce rayon, old growth forests are often destroyed, and farmers are displaced to make way for pulpwood plantations. Wood pulp must be broken down through chemicals such as caustic soda, ammonia, acetone and sulphuric acid, to produce rayon that can survive regular washing and wearing.

Our black brown floral print polyester is a fabric that was produced by a larger design house. The full quantity was not used by them and would have ended up in a landfill. So, we saved the fabric, the abundant resources and energy used to create it, and chose to give this deadstock fabric a second life, as our romantic Blue Heights Dress.

Choosing deadstock fabric is one important step towards effectively breaking the harmful cycle. Our brand believes in saving our planet and minimizing our waste, water and energy footprint wherever we can. We strive to be a part of the emergent movement towards sustainable fashion.
